Kumano River is traversing the village of Totsukawa. So, there are many suspension bridges in Totsukawa village to cross the river. The longest among them is the suspension bridge of Tanise. It is 54 meters in height, 297 meters in length and the longest suspension bridge to be used for daily life in Japan. In 1954, neighboring residents paid the construction cost with support of administration and completed the bridge. From this fact you can know how important this suspension bridge was for the residents. Even today, when the road was built, elementary school students use this bridge to go to school.

Instead of just going back over to the opposite bank, the village of Tanise on the other side of the river has been equipped with a promenade, please try to walk to the observatory by all means.
