You can reach to Tarama village in 20min. by air or in 2hours by ship from Miyako Island. Lots of visitors come to Miyako and Ishigaki Islands, but this small island, Tarama is not well-known even to Japanese. So, still you can enjoy untouched beautiful nature here. The island is surrounded by windbreaks. And there are many entrances called “Tubli” in local dialect. It is like tunnel to the beach. You can reach to private type of beaches through this entrance.

   If you want to enjoy the wide view of this island, you are recommended to go up to Yaeyama observatory. You can take a look not only the whole village but also Minna Island and Ishigaki Island.
